Choosing a therapist is a big decision, and it’s completely normal to have questions before you reach out. Here are the ones I hear most often. If yours isn’t here, bring it to your free consult — there are no wrong questions.

Do you offer in-person sessions?

All sessions are currently offered via telehealth only. This means wherever you are in Tennessee, you can access support from a private, comfortable space of your choosing — no commute required.

What are your office hours?

I am generally available Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST. Reach out and we’ll find a time that works for your schedule.

What is your background and training?

I’ve been a licensed clinical social worker for nearly 26 years, working across inpatient and outpatient settings with people of all ages. I hold a Bachelor of Social Work from Middle Tennessee State University and a Master of Social Work from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

My specialized training includes:

  • DARTT — Developmental and Relational Trauma Therapy

  • Level 2 HOCI — Healing Our Core Issues

  • Level 1 IFS — Internal Family Systems

  • Experiential Therapy approaches (advanced training continuing Fall 2026 and Spring 2027)

  • Level 1 Trauma-Informed Yoga

What insurance do you accept?

I am currently in-network with:

  • Medicare

  • UnitedHealthcare / Optum

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS)

  • Cigna

  • Tricare (out-of-network certified; a referral from your Primary Care Manager is required)

  • CuraLinc EAP

ℹ️  A note on privacy and insurance:

When you use insurance benefits for therapy, your insurance company may request clinical information such as your diagnosis and treatment plan as a condition of coverage. If privacy is a priority for you, private pay allows you to keep your therapy

What are your fees?

  • Initial Assessment (approx. 60 min)    $200

  • 55- minute session                                  $175

  • 45- minute session                                  $125

How do I pay?

I use SimplePractice as my electronic health record and client portal. Once you’re set up, you’ll have a secure card on file for sessions, copays, and any other charges.

What is your cancellation policy?

I require 24 hours’ notice for all cancellations. A $60 late cancellation or no-show fee applies. Full details are included in your intake paperwork.

What is the free consultation?

It’s a relaxed 15-minute conversation — no paperwork, no pressure. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you in, I’ll answer your questions, and we’ll get a sense of whether we’re a good fit. There’s no obligation to book after.

Who do you work with?

I work with adults 18 and up who are ready to do meaningful work. My clients are often navigating anxiety, depression, PTSD, or the lasting effects of trauma — sometimes all at once. They don’t have to have it all figured out, but they do have to be willing to show up and engage in the process. That’s enough to start.

What should I expect from therapy?

Everyone’s journey looks different — there’s no set timeline. What you can count on: your experience will be treated with dignity, honesty, and respect. Some sessions will feel like breakthroughs; others will feel like slow, quiet work. Both matter. I’ll be with you for all of it.

How long is each session?

Sessions are typically 45–55 minutes depending on your needs. Your initial intake appointment is approximately 60 minutes.

What do you enjoy most about this work?

Passing forward what was given to me. My own journey taught me a great deal about what healing actually looks like — and what gets in the way of it. There’s nothing more meaningful to me than helping someone find what genuinely works for them and watching them step into the life they want.

How do I access my client portal?

Through SimplePractice at april-hibdon.clientsecure.me — you can schedule your free consult or log into your portal there.

What is coming in 2027

I am planning to expand services to include in-person sessions and therapy intensives in 2027. If you’re interested in being notified when those become available, mention it during your consultation.
